There was a great turn out for the opening of the New Woodlawn Woods Trail signs on a damp and cool morning of March 7th despite the weather! The signs are beautifully illustrated with artwork by Carrie Sullivan. This is a great example of a partnership initiative with the local community working with Coillte and Galway County Council to deliver a great project. I hope it helps put Woodlawn on the map and I recommend it for a nice woodland walk if you fancy an outing some day. If you find yourself in the woods there and spot any plants or animals, the Woodlawn Heritage Group would like to hear about it.
Well done to all involved including Alf Seale (Woodlawn heritage), Carrie Sullivan (artist), Cathy Seale (Community Water officer), Bernie Doherty (Woodlawn Heritage Group) and Martin Ruane (Coillte) and Heritage Officer Marie Mannion and the Local Agenda 21 team from Galway County Council . See the Woodlawn Heritage group website for more information on the biodiversity of the area.
